Abstract

We discuss the distributions and conchological characteristics of 7 Albinaria taxa present in calcareous areas around the coastal town of Marmaris in southwestern Türkiye. A new subspecies, Albinaria coa tek Örstan is described from a disjunct population found on a small island south of Marmaris. The new subspecies is geographically closest to A. basalifera Neubert, 1992 present on the Bozburun Peninsula immediately west of Marmaris. However, the 2 taxa have vastly different conchological characteristics. The new subspecies differs from known populations of A. coa coa (O. Boettger, 1889) by the less dense ribs on its shell. It is also separated from the closest known A. coa coa population by a wide swath of water and noncalcareous terrain.
